I don’t know about you, but this summer heat is hotter than ever. Everywhere!

Even with the Fall season approaching there does not seem to be any relief coming anytime soon.

Seriously, you cannot take a breath outside without feeling the affects of the heat in a short period of time. It’s ridiculous!

Normally, I spend quite a bit of time outdoors. Playing with my dogs, taking long walks, exploring new places for photography, visiting and exploring my favorite nursery and farm. The heat this year has made it almost impossible. Quite frankly, it is affecting my mood, and not in a good way. Even the beach vacation came with burning sand and bathtub water! Ugh.

The feeling of being trapped indoors affected my mood so badly, I had to find something to bring the outdoors back to life. Fortunately, there are a few things to help cool down the body long enough to get some quality outdoor time.

Being a solution oriented individual, and determined to remain steadfast with my outdoor activities regardless of the heat, researching in combination with products already in use, I was able to tolerate the heat much longer without negative affects. Within limits of course.

Let’s just say, heat stroke will never be on my bucket list.

How do we beat the heat without hiding indoors – hopefully with cooling air conditioners?

5 things to help beat the summer heat.

 Water

Staying hydrated in the heat all year long is important. In the summer when the temperatures rise along with the humidity the affects of the high temperatures can hit you before you know it. Dangerously so. I know it is  hard for some to remember to drink water. Start slow and build a habit of drinking water to keep hydration in balance.

Keeping a stock of reusable water bottles helps remind you, and can track your water intake. Since trying this, I can’t think of a time when a water source was not attached to me the entire summer. Keep several handy, and drink up.

 Stay Cool Cloths

My savior. Cool clothes are easy to keep handy in your purse, car, travel bag, or just about anywhere you need them. Just dip them in some water squeeze out the residual just enough so it’s damp, and you have an instant cool down. I cannot count how many times I reach for these on the beach, by the pool, or on a morning walk. A stay cool cloth in combination the right amount of water will definitely help cool you down and keep you enjoying the outdoors longer.

 Quick Dry Cool Clothing

Natural fiber bamboo, light weight, breathable, loose fitting clothing is all I wear in the summer…and a hat in the sun. One of my favorite clothing lines is Free Fly. The clothes are light weight, perfect for the heat, stylish, comfortable, and their leggings are the best I have ever worn. The leggings are great in and out of the water, provide natural sun protection, are non constricting, and are dry before you know it.

 SPF Sunblock

I am an ocean girl all the way. Wearing sun protection is part of my daily routine, however, I only use reef safe products. Babo Botanicals has a full range of products that are not only reef safe, they are family safe. Because they are considered a sun block, you remain cooler as the sun’s UV rays bounce off the skin instead of absorb into the skin causing your internal body temperature to rise. One or two of these products are in my purse at all times. Especially the lip balm and the sunblock stick for the unexpected extended outdoor time.

 A Vacation

Even though the heat is high almost everywhere, a vacation is in order to maintain your mental health. Getting away from home almost forces you to enjoy the outdoors, within reason of course. The beach is my favorite place to escape. I feel great just getting out of the house and near the ocean. It did come with hot sand and warmer than usual water, but I was outside and having fun. Win! Win!

Final Words

Keeping cool with high outdoor temperature is always a challenge.
