Aromatherapy Associates London
De-Stress Muscle Gel
Introduction
After two days of strenuous workouts. One intense Martial Arts workout followed by a half day of scuba diving drills, I was a wee bit sore.
Last season I received a full size Aromatherapy Associates Muscle Gel in my #FabFitFun box. I thought, “perfect opportunity.” I have experience with this brand in the past, and love their products. They are high end, smell wonderful, and meet my criteria for the big “no way” ingredients.
Bonus: This brand uses natural essential oils.
After staring at the box and feeling stiff and sore, I made up my mind. There probably will not be a better time than now to review this product. Especially since I am in need of some major relief of my aching muscles from the last two days of exercise..
Experience
It’s not a typical gel
The texture is a opaque light cream, unlike the traditional gels. Immediately the smell of lavender is noted. This was expected as at the top of the list of ingredients are three different forms of lavender.
Since I was a little stiff everywhere-on it went.
The application is very soothing to the skin. It absorbs quickly with no sticky residue. You’ll notice some cooling affect after application.
Results
I did not notice any pain relief but my body began to relax and my skin was smooth and soft. What I did experience are the effects of the aromatherapy of the lavender. I was able to relax, get comfortable and drift off into a nice sleep for the night. I even put a little on my temples and above my lip to continue to get the lavender scent.
Side Note: I can easily see a massage therapist using this product to work tight muscles to relieve soreness for their clients.
For me…I enjoyed the aroma of lavender, had a wonderful nights sleep, and no tightness or soreness upon waking.
Conclusion
If you like using products with lavender EO this is a product I would recommend. If you expect an immediate analgesic affect, this is not for you. This product is not an analgesic, therefore, will not relieve pain or have an analgesic affect in the traditional sense. A cosmeceutical grade or pharmaceutical grade product is where you need to head if immediate relief is your desire.
I did, however, sleep well and woke up without pain or stiffness.
The price point can be a bit high, but if you shop around you can find one pretty reasonable.
